When you compare the sorrows of real life to the pleasures of the imaginary one, you will never want to live again, only to dream forever. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds.’ I do not agree. I imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain. Life swings like a pendulum backward and forward between pain and boredom. Anyone who says differently is selling something. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world. When you give someone your whole heart and he doesn’t want it, you cannot take it back. The good times seem almost effervescent and dreamlike in comparison with the times that didn’t go so well. There are things that haunt us our entire lives we are unable to let them go. I think that humans have a huge capacity to carry pain and sadness. There is no greater sorrow than to recall happiness in times of misery. ![]() ![]() I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And the kindest hearts have felt the most pain. ![]() The prettiest eyes have cried the most tears. The prettiest smile hides the deepest secrets. The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too.
